The 10 000m event, scheduled at 08H00 on Saturday, will feature the current back-to-back Comrades champion Bongmusa Mthembu. Bongmusa recently represented South Africa at the 100km world championships where he claimed a respectable bronze medal. Hardly taking any break he then went on to win the 2018 edition of the Sani stagger marathon. To give some impetus to the 10 000m event he will be joined by Thuso Mosiea, also a member of the 2018 National 100km World Championships medal winning team & another rising star, Ndumiso Sokhela who currently boasts a personal best of 30:44.0 and improving.

Then we can also confirm that Tyrone Pillay, 2016 Rio paralympic bronze medallist, will enter the shotput ring at 10H00 on Saturday. Tyrone has his sight focused on the 2020 Tokyo olympics and we are priviliged to have him present on Saturday. Have a lookout for Tyrone and come out to support the gentle giant
