It was game on for athletics from all of KwaZulu-Natal at the Kings Park stadium as the much anticipated Inter-District Relay Challenge which took place on Saturday the 29th of September 2018. The day started with the Medley Relay for girls and boys under 15 and was then followed by the official opening ceremony which consisted of a parade of participating teams and entertainment from the Zebras who set the stadium on fire with their incredible traditional Zulu dance moves.
The competition resumed with a Tiny Tots 60m girls and boys race. The toddlers, being the future stars of KZN athletics had the opportunity to take pictures with back to back Comrades Marathon winner, Bongumusa Mthembu.
It was then time for the under 17 girls Medley Relay which was followed with the medal presentation of the under 15 boys and girls. The under 17 boys Medley Relay swiftly followed after the presentation.
At 13:00 was time for the under 19 girls Medley Relay which was followed by the medal presentation for the under 17 girls and boys and an under 19 boys Medley Relay which was the last race of the day.
The day ended with the last medal presentation for the under 19 girls and boys which was followed by category awards, special awards and the announcement for the overall winner.
