The 2019 track & field season is upon us and we are excited to see how our athletes & coaches have prepared for the new year. Track & field is the ideal sport to focus on youth development and introduce young & old to the sport of athletics.
The season kicks off on Saturday the 12th of January with a technical officials symposium. The symposium is open to all current and new prospective officials. So if you always wanted to help at athletics events, this is your opportunity to get registered. CLICK HERE for more details regarding the symposium.
The first track & field league is scheduled for Saturday the 19th of January, followed a week later on the 26th of January with league 2. Both events will be hosted at Kingspark athletics stadium. The program, entry forms & entry fees will be made available the week before each event.
The two leagues are only open to under 18 (16 & 17 years), under 20 (18 & 19 years), seniors & masters athletes. ANYONE can participate at these events and you do not have to be registered with a KZNA affiliated club/school. However, you will require a temporary license to participate. We do encourage athletes to register with a permanent license to ensure we have all your details & performances on record. The under 18 & under 20 age groups can purchase a permanent license directly from the KZNA office and register with their school or club. Senior & masters athletes can only get a permanent license by registering with a KZNA affiliated club.
Please note that the KZNA track & field leagues are separate events from the KZN schools athletics events. To qualify for KZN school events, please contact your schools sports coordinator to find out about dates for the regional, districts & KZNA schools champs. You have to qualify via your region & district to enter KZNA schools champs and be eligible for KZN schools selection for nationals. If your school do not have the info please contact KZNA office 031 312 9374 who will be able to assist with contact details.
If you are a KZN athletics registered athlete there is no qualifying criteria to compete at KZN U18, U20, Seniors or Masters champs.
For any enquiries about the track & field league events or technical officials symposium please contact KZNA office 031 312 9374. Please note the office will only reopen on Monday the 7th of January
