South Africa will be represented by two athletes from KwaZulu-Natal Athletics (KZNA) in the Athletics World Cup in London this year.
The two-day event will be held on the 14th and 15th of July. Cassidy Williamson and Zakithi Nene will be holding the South African flag high at the world cup.
Williamson (19) from Umhlanga Rocks won a bronze medal at the 2018 SA Championships. She will be running in the Women’s 4x100 Relay and Nene (20) who hails from Ladysmith is a silver medallist and he will be competing in the Men’s 4x100 Relay.
South Africa is the only African country in the event. The athletes will be competing with other athletes from countries like, Germany, Jamaica, Poland and others.
The 8 teams will enter a team of men and woman consisting of 1 athlete per country. The teams will compete in 17 events that include track and field events.
