TRACK & FIELD

Release 24 January 2012

Please note change of venue for this event is now Durban and not Richards Bay as origionally published.

Please note that the Junior/ Senior and masters run 10 000m on Saturday, the Youth still run 3000m.

There will be relays at the end of the program for “Pre Nominated athletes” that will be notified during the week, as well as then open to other teams who wish to enter.

As requested last week, if you enter an event and then can’t make it, or pull out, please just let me or the KZNA office know, as again we could have cut down on the heats for Saturday, especially in the 400m, where 15 athletes were entered fort he Mixed Women (Junior / Senior) and only 7 actually competed, meaning we had 2 heats that could have been 1 race, also in the Mixed Men 400m (Junior / Senior), there were 22 entries meaning 3 heats, and only 12 competed, however the seeding from league 1 worked well in this event as all 8 of the previously seeded athletes were present in the final race of the day.

Talking about seeding, once your entry is received on Thursday, we are able to “seed” athletes in there events (especially the sprints), thereby having strength on strength, however for those who only decide to enter after Thursday, it becomes a mission to register seeding and especially those who only enter on the day, On Saturday, one of the winners of an event was in a “cheap” heat, as they only entered on Saturday, then complained because they couldn’t run against the better athletes.

So please I encourage you to enter your events by Thursday evening, some are entering on Thursday, but around 22h00 and last week one group was only sent just before midnight, I then only get those entries on Friday, putting pressure on the organisers to manually look up seeding, as we already start ET transfers, so the event can run smoothly.

Also remember the program is pushed from the walk, and the program sequence is followed, not the program times, this really worked well on Saturday, thank.

See you on the track.
