TRACK & FIELD

Top KZN Juniors included in South African Squad for World Junior Championships.

Two KZN athletes, Justine Palframan and Adam Lipshitz, have made KZN proud by being selected into the SA team to compete in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Spain, Barcelona from the 10 – 15 July 2012. Justine will be taking part in the 400m and Adam will be lining up for the 3000m steeplechase event. Justine will be going to Barcelona on the back of some good performances in 2012 which includes both the 400m junior (53.51) and 400m senior (52.33) titles. Adam is having an excellent season on and off the track. He won a bronze at the SA junior champs in the 5000m and although he finished outside the medals at SA senior champs, he clocked an impressive 8:54.49 in the 3000m steeplechase. Adam was also included in the 2012 KZN 10km team, for SA championships in Kimberley where he finished second.  Another South African championship silver medal to his growing collection. Justine and Adam have shown by example that through hard work, dedication and a good support base, KZN athletes can compete on the world stage at the highest level of competition. Adam is currently running in the colours of Glenwood High School and Justine, coached by her father, is a member of the highly acclaimed Fast Feet Track Club. KZNA wishes Adam and Justine all the best in their preparations for and participation at the World Junior Championships.  We will all be keeping a close eye on their individual performances.

Action points for your club attention:

Greetings

I would like thank all of you and your clubs for your continued support of our sport and the hosting of events in the past and for the future. • Referees / officials report within 72 hours ( 3 days)
  • Race report from organisers within 5 days
  • All race organisers to ensure that at least 4 persons are allocated for the responsibility of recording and identifying category winners ( ideally a spotter and recorder team for males and females) additional  2 if the race includes a walking event – the referees will assist with the on route spot checks and verification of results.( we cannot continue to do results from the entry tag as is still happening)Referees do not prepare your race results – this is an event function to be undertaken by the organising club.
  • All prize giving to be concluded within 1 hour of the event cut off ( the long delays are resulting in little or no attendance and no value add for sponsors)- a proper results system will enable the quick and efficient prize giving process
